Rental Inspections..time to spring clean

Yes, I knew it was coming. Every six months I have to have a rental inspection ( as you have figured I don't own my own home).

But am I ready for it???? No, absolutely not. Now there are no holes in the wall, or any broken windows, its just the fact that you realise...Oh my god I really do need to clean the oven again.

So begins the task of washing down finger prints off walls and around light switches, which you knew were there all along, but thought, "I'll do that later", and later does not come until now.

Now of course I have the best landlords in the world, and they are not going to evict me because I have dirty fingerprints on the wall, but why do we put off the things we know are going to take us longer next time.

I even make sure the garage is tidy, and they don't even check in there. But knowing my luck, this is the time they will.

I think I become so fanatical about inspections, is because I used to live with a flatmate who worked in real estate, property management. She would make me so fearful of how things had to be clean, that I'm even washing down tops of the cupboards, and getting rid of my allowed pet out of the backyard, in case they trip over it, or the dog decides to do his business before they come to inspect and then the grass is not clean enough.

But seriously, once said house is cleaned, you think yo yourself, this is how the place should look all the time. Not with the ironing tipped over lounge waited to be seen to, or that football that's been in the kitchen, not in child's room like it should be, is still there.

Is it because we become to complacent, or to busy at work, to tired, running the children around or..

Nah I'll just do it later!!!!!!

Training Mums and Dads.

Wow!!!! How chilly was this afternoon..Wednesdays down the footy field, netball, soccer, tennis???? What we do for our kids and their sporting endevours!!!

I live for these days..catching up with parents on the sidelines while our children do all the hard work. How we as parents complain how cold it is, and why is there only a coffee van on game days, and not when we really need them, on a freezing Wednesday afternoon, that we really need our caffeine or hot chocolate fix.

Do you ever find yourself at the start of the season, sun is shining in the middle of March saying, "what a great day for footy" ( or insert other sports here). As apposed to the middle of the season wishing hopefully for that massive storm front to hit on the Friday before your treasured childs sports day on Saturday, that it unfortunately gets cancelled and you get to spend that all to needed saturday morning in bed, while comforting treasured child, that its ok, they will get to play next week.

I think back to when my own Mum, ( god rest her beautiful artistict soul) who worked full time, drove the Mum taxi to my brothers soccer training, game days, myself to dancing and tennis, whilst she worked full time as a high school teacher. I never realised till recently, that even though I always knew she was an amazing Mum, she really did alot for my brother and I. Its not till you have your own children, do you realise that your Mum, with no complaining at all, went about her beloved Mum duties, while Dad was at work.

I could never understand why my Dad, on my brothers game days, would stand so far away ( sometimes with the opposing team supporters), when my Mum would scream so loud full of support for my brothers soccer team, that I would be embarrassed and go and stand near Dad. I have come to realise, that as Mums ( and more so Dads these days as well), we see the effort put into training, and then on game days it either all comes together, or falls apart, We see you knocked over, drop balls, miss tackles, not get that great ballet leap, and then when it matters, we see it all come together, and we could not be prouder.

We as parents, guardians, grandparents etc live for these days.
